Surveying along SR 228 for 2017 turn lane project

228 surveying 2Motorists and pedestrians along busy South 5th St. in Macclenny (SR 228) south from Lowder will have noticed extensive surveying taking place the past few weeks. Here Charles West of Macclenny, an employee of Jacksonville-based DRMP surveyors, records a reading just north of Jonathan St. on February 6.

Gina Busscher, public information for District 2 of the Florida Department of Transportation, said the survey is connected to the addition of a northbound left turn lane onto Lowder in front of Macclenny Nursing and Rehab, a busy intersection that will also get a traffic signal. Ms. Busscher said the project is scheduled for late 2017 or early the following year.
