112 sign up for Y soccer

With youth soccer season just around the corner, 112 players and 12 coaches  will make up nine teams this fall at the Baker County Family YMCA.
The players will be divided into four U-6 teams and two U-10 and U-12 teams. The U-18 division will be split into two teams that will play home games against each other. The teams will combine into one for road games September 13 against Dye-Clay and September 19 against Barco-Newton.

Wilson’s celebrate 60th anniversary

wilson-webRev. Louis and Evangeline Wilson of Macclenny and their children celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 4 with a dinner at the Texas Roadhouse in Lake City.
The couple wed in Folkston, GA on that day in 1954.
Their children include son  Adrain (Vicki) Wilson of Orlando and Trilby (Greg) Richie of Live Oak, where he is pastor of the Live Oak Church of God.
The elder Rev. Wilson is an ordained bishop in the Church of God, now retired.

First win for new Wildcat coach

Vic-Givens-runs-in-for-the-touchdownTom MacPherson picked up his first win as Wildcat head coach September 5 as the team rolled through the hosting Bradford County Tornadoes 43-7.
“It feels good,” coach MacPherson said about his first victory with his new program. “We were just looking for some momentum for the kids. For the most part, I feel like we were solid in all three phases of the game.”
The Cats dominated all aspects of the game en route to the blow out victory to pull to an even 1-1 record. The offense moved the ball with ease as quarterback Jacob Carter rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown on five carries. Running back Vic Givens added two scores and 39 yards on the ground.
