Wildcats lose 21-13 to Westside

The Wildcats committed five turnovers September 26 as they fell to 0-2 in the district with a 21-13 home loss to the Westside Wolverines.

Two second-quarter touchdown runs by Amari Dubose and Corteze Davis gave the Wolverines (2-3, 2-0) a 14-7 lead at halftime. The Cats (1-4, 0-2) closed the gap through the third quarter as Jacob Carter connected with Zach Rafuse on a 19-yard touchdown pass. The team’s two-point conversion failed, leaving it trailing 14-13.

The Wolverines took the final eight-point lead with 1:04 left in the game as Dubose punched the ball in from 2-yards out to cap off Westside’s 11-play, 84-yard drive that ate almost five minutes off the clock.

The Cats still had a chance to tie the game, though, and took over the ball on their own 35-yard line. They moved the ball to Westside’s 40, but Carter’s last second heave was picked off for his third interception of the night.

Baker County will try to salvage its season October 3rd when it hosts Wolfson.
