Wade Thomas, 67, master electrican

Wade Leroy Thomas, 67, of Macclenny died August 2, 2011 of natural causes with family and friends by his side. He was born in Jacksonville on March 13, 1944, the son of Lindsey and Lillian Thomas. Wade graduated from Paxon High School and was a member of the National Guard. He was a master electrician for GE and National Can.

Mr. Thomas was a good man, father and grandfather and loved by many. He loved fishing with his buddies, was an FSU Seminoles fan and an avid golfer in his younger years. He was preceded in death by wife Marlys Thomas.

Survivors include sister Linda; son Brian; daughter Karen; grandsons Parker and Paxton.

The funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Macclenny on August 27 at 5:00 pm. Giddens-Reed Funeral Home of Baldwin is in charge of arrangements.

William Koenig dies August 18th

William Henry Koenig Sr., 71, of Glen St. Mary died August 18, 2011 at his residence.

He was born in Jacksonville, on April 22, 1940 to William Christian and Ella Margaret James Koenig. William was a resident of Glen St. Mary since 1971 after moving from Jacksonville. He was a member of IBEW local 177 and a union electrician for 52 years.

Mr. Koenig was an avid gardener and pool player who played against the then-world champion Minnesota Fats. He also enjoyed cooking and watching cooking shows.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Phyllis E. Pettibone Koenig of Glen; sons William (Dani) H. Koenig Jr. and Philip David Koenig, both of Glen; grandsons Anthony Koenig, David Koenig and William Koenig; one brother-in-law; four sister-in-laws; numerous nieces and nephews.

V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Matthew Hendrix, 37, of Orange Park

Matthew “Matt” Steven Hendrix, 37, of Orange Park died August 16, 2011.

 He was born in Jacksonville on June 17, 1974 and raised in Macclenny. Matt loved his family and friends and adored his wife. He enjoyed many things in life, especially being a wonderful father to his son and step-sons, coaching Little League baseball and supporting Gator football. He will be remembered as a firefighter and EMT with a tender heart for people in need.

Survivors include wife Jennifer Zatorski Hendrix of Orange Park; son Jacob Hendrix of Macclenny; parents Wesley Steven and Regina Kloss Hendrix of Macclenny; step-sons Anthony and Michael Farrell of Orange Park; brother Lance (Carol) Hendrix; sister Lee Hendrix of Jacksonville; granddaughter Kylee Farrell; his son Jacob’s mother Katrina Jones of Macclenny. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and great friends.

The funeral service was held on August 23 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Salwek Bielsiewicz officiating.

V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services were in charge of the arrangements.

Lucille Goethe, 85, of Jacksonville

Lucille Warnock Goethe, 85, of Jacksonville died August 20, 2011. She was born in Reedsville, Georgia to Willie Warnock and Berdie Bowen Warnock on July 1, 1926. She enjoyed reading mysteries, taking care of her grand and great-grandchildren and grocery shopping. She was predeceased by husband James E. Goethe.

Survivors include children Pamela (Melvin) Johnson and Leslie (Bud) Lawson of St. George, GA, and Bryan Goethe of Jacksonville; 18 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The funeral service was held August 24 at V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services Chapel in Macclenny, with Pastor James Conner officiating.
