Mary Lou Burnsed, 69, of Jacksonville

Mary Lou Burnsed, 69, of Jacksonville died August 28, at Shands Jacksonville following a brief illness. She was born in Macclenny and had resided in Jacksonville for the past 49 years. She was employed as a sales clerk with NeSmith Produce in Jacksonville for over 20 years.

Mrs. Burnsed was a member of the Macclenny Primitive Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her parents Amos Ardell and Nancy Bennett Crawford, and her late husband Nelson Burnsed.

Florence Chesser, 97, dies August 29

Florence Mae Chesser, 97, died August 29, 2011, at W. Frank Wells Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband John A. Chesser. Survivors include sons George Vernon Chesser and Jessie Chesser; grandchildren Dean Chesser and Amy Beavers; and great-grandchildren Ryan and Emily Beavers.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 1 at the Town and Country Funeral Home Chapel on Normandy Blvd. from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be September 2 at 2:00 pm in the chapel with Rev. Randy Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Memorial Park.

Ronald Miller, 68, dies August 24th

Ronald “Ronnie” Eugene Miller, Sr., 68, of Macclenny died August 24, 2011. He was born in South Holland, IL to the late Clarence Edgar and Louise Boyd Miller on November 7, 1942. He was a resident of Baker County since 1976 and honorably served in the US Marines for nine years. He was a carpenter for 30 years at White Oak Plantation before retirement. Ronnie was a hard worker, dedicated father, family man, avid Gator fan and was always willing to extend a hand to anyone.

Mr. Miller was predeceased by his former wife Brenda Miller; his wife of 23 years Theresa Williams Miller; brothers Eddie and Tyrone and sisters Kathy, Irene and Jeanette.

Ralph Peterson, 71, a retired chief

Ralph Gerald Peterson, 71, died August 29, 2011 at Macclenny Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mr. Peterson lived in Glen St. Mary for the past 30 years. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Navy for 21 years and retired as a senior chief petty officer. He was a member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his son Jon Allen Peterson.

Survivors include his wife Cathryn Crews Peterson of Glen St. Mary; son Jerald (Debra) Peterson of Glen St. Mary; sister Darlene Finch of Arkansas;  grandchildren Joshua, Dustin and Jordan Peterson.
