Sanderson hip-hop DJ garners an award

Sanderson resident and hip hop DJ Trintahn Williams (left), also known as DJ Boonk, was one of the award recipients at the XIV Diamond Awards at Edge Concert Hall on Jacksonville’s south side on March 23.

He was honored with the 2014  Breakthrough DJ of the Year Diamond Award. The 27-year-old Baker County native said introducing club goers to artist T-Rone’s record “Kry” helped him secure the recognition. Mr. Williams is a member of the Jacksonville-based DJ coalition Cool Runnings DJs.

According to his biography on the coalition’s website, Mr. Williams started playing records as a teenager at house parties. He can be found at Sanderson’s Club 229, Lawtey’s LA Lounge and other venues in Jacksonville and Lake City.

He counts DJ Bigga Rankin, founder of Cool Runnings DJs, and famed Atlanta-based DJ Drama as his influences, his website biography shows.
