Florida’s first lady Ann Scott flew in from Tallahassee with the governor on March 20 for a roughly two-hour visit at Westside Elementary School in Glen St. Mary.
Governor Rick Scott’s wife of 41 years read a story book to multiple groups of students there and took questions afterward.
Mrs. Scott is pictured above reading with the help of second grader Sarah Dopson. The book was about a little lightning bug named Leo who overcame ridicule by his fellow lightning bugs to gain his self confidence.
“I loved reading the story. It was a good lesson,” she told the children after finishing the book.
Governor Scott, meanwhile, was at a preschool in Jacksonville with the city’s Mayor Alvin Brown touting the importance of early childhood education and his recent signing of legislation to reduce tag fees.
