Detour for new bridge on CR 229

A detour is in place on the north end of the County Road 229 bridge replacement project underway in southern Baker County.

As work progresses to tie in the new replacement bridge with the roadway approaches, all traffic is being detoured for two weeks to Mud Lake Road (County Road 130), Richardson Road and Bethlehem Church Road just north of the bridge.

Following the detour, traffic will then be placed on the new concrete bridge while the southern end of the project is rebuilt. During this time, traffic will be detoured to Clet Harvey Road, Richardson Road and Cemetery Road.

The bridge project began last June and is scheduled to be completed in early 2014. Superior Construction Company of Jacksonville is doing the work for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

Federal funds earmarked for bridges damaged in Tropical Storm Debby in June 2012 are covering the project’s $1.9 million cost.
