Donald Rodney Oliver, 82, of Macclenny died on September 29, 2013 at his residence with family by his side. He was born in Rochester, Minnesota on February 17, 1931 to the late Donald Carlos Oliver and Caroline Christina Heil Oliver.
He resided in Boca Raton, FL for 30 years before relocating to Macclenny in 2001, when he became a member of the First Baptist Church of Macclenny. Donald served his country proudly in the United States Army as a Sgt. 1st Class during the Korean War.
He retired from IBM after 31 ½ years of dedicated service as a contract coordinator. Donald was known for his handyman and mechanic skills. He enjoyed collecting and restoring antique cars, fishing and farming.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Billie Jeanne Oliver of Macclenny; children James (Nancy) Oliver of Taylor, Mike (Debra) Oliver of Sandia Park, NM, JoAnn Oliver of Roseville, CA, and Rodney (Sharon) Oliver of Jenison, MI; brother Franklin Dooner of CA; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 3 at 3:00 pm at his church with Pastor Edsel M. Bone officiating. Interment will follow at Taylor Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
