Although the projected deficit in the upcoming county budget has now been reduced to $1.2 million, from a high of $2.5 million last month, county commissioners are moving toward slightly higher taxes to help fund county government in 2013-14.
I ran into a most interesting radio interview on NPR the other day with Sports Illustrated senior writer David Epstein, who has written a book called The Sports Gene.
The book is a little controversial because it examines whether some people are naturally better athletes than others, the importance of practice and how rewarding people for being good at sports affects the number of people who want to be sportsmen or women.
