Holton named offensive player of the year in 5A

BCHS softball catcher Kylie Holton was named the All State 5A Offensive Player of the Year following an incredible year at the plate.

Ms. Holton had a great junior season batting for the Wildcats as she hit for a .616 average with nine home runs and 48 RBIs in the regular season.

Albert Altman has loved sports all his life, and that passion has allowed him to continue competing at age 78.

Mr. Altman plays in an adult softball league against players who are usually half his age, if not younger. The league consists of a lot of his family members, but Mr. Altman doesn’t take it easy on them.

NFL preseason ‘just like old times’

“Seems like old times, being here with you, just like old times ….”

You can look at that lead in two ways. It’s a great song from the 1950s or it’s another Jaguars football game.

For this column it’s the latter.

I watched the Jaguars play the Dolphins with great interest to see if the they progressed under new coach Gus Bradley.
