‘National Night Out’ at Memorial Park

First responders including those with the local fire departments, the sheriff’s office, Florida Highway Patrol, Emergency Medical Services and a TraumaOne helicopter team mingled with residents at Macclenny’s Memorial Park the evening of August 6 for the annual National Night Out event celebrated across the nation.

Visitors shared food and other refreshments like snow cones courtesy of school district while first responders gave children a chance to see their vehicles from the inside out, including the sheriff’s mobile command center.

It was hot and a bit overcast, but thunderstorms expected earlier in the day never materialized for the 6 pm event that drew many families to the park.
