Arrest for pointing BB pistol at couple

A Macclenny man was arrested the evening of July 6 for pointing what turned out to be a BB pistol at a Suwannee County woman whose husband was changing a tire in the parking lot of Murphy Oil on SR 228 in the south city.

Kathie Railey of Live Oak and her 16-year-old daughter identified Michael Prevatt, 31, as the passenger in a Chevrolet pickup that drove off after the 7 pm incident. Ms. Railey told Deputy Marc Heath the driver of the pickup, Brandy Hoffman, 30, of Macclenny, yelled at her to close the doors of her vehicle so she could park next to it.

Four months to demolish, remove trailers from park

The Baker County Code Enforcement Board gave relatives of the owner of an abandoned trailer park on SR 121 North four months to demolish the three remaining units on the property and dispose of the remnants of all six trailers, or face fines above the ones already imposed from a 2012 case.

Arrested for armed burglary; teen chased down to abandoned trailer

The sheriff’s department arrested two suspects, one of them a juvenile who was chased on foot to an abandoned trailer, for burglary of a vehicle overnight on July 1 in north Macclenny during which they stole a pistol.

BCHS summer basketball kicks-off this week v. Forest

Baker County High School varsity boys basketball coach Charles Ruise Sr. is expecting big things from the team when the season tips off later this year, and the foundation for that is being laid this summer.

The Wildcats begin summer games July 9 against Forrest, and will play nine more games over the course of the next month. Winning isn’t as important in these games, as they will primarily be used to get players some additional time on the court.
