September ballots in Macclenny, Glen mostly incumbents

The weeklong qualifying period ended at noon on July 5 for candidates seeking five open seats on the Macclenny Commission and Glen St. Mary Town Council in September, and incumbents are on the ballot in all but one of the races.

In the case of Glen, the three incumbents will run unopposed.

Arrest for pointing BB pistol at couple

A Macclenny man was arrested the evening of July 6 for pointing what turned out to be a BB pistol at a Suwannee County woman whose husband was changing a tire in the parking lot of Murphy Oil on SR 228 in the south city.

Kathie Railey of Live Oak and her 16-year-old daughter identified Michael Prevatt, 31, as the passenger in a Chevrolet pickup that drove off after the 7 pm incident. Ms. Railey told Deputy Marc Heath the driver of the pickup, Brandy Hoffman, 30, of Macclenny, yelled at her to close the doors of her vehicle so she could park next to it.

Four months to demolish, remove trailers from park

The Baker County Code Enforcement Board gave relatives of the owner of an abandoned trailer park on SR 121 North four months to demolish the three remaining units on the property and dispose of the remnants of all six trailers, or face fines above the ones already imposed from a 2012 case.
