Drama camp’s session two starts next week

Is your child an undiscovered star?

Does he or she sing and dance and make up plays at the drop of a hat?

If so, the BCHS FutureStars Drama Camp is probably for you. The camp runs June 24-28 at BCHS is a fun and exciting way to get kids 5-13 interested in performance.

Counselors from BCHS drama and the Baker County Community Theatre are on hand to teach kids all the basics of singing, dancing, stage movement and acting. At the end of each session they will show off their skills in a FutureStars Extravaganza musical performance.

Arrests for underage drinking at city park

Police arrested three men, two of them under the legal drinking age of 21, at the Macclenny Park late on June 6 for disorderly intoxication and loitering after they were spotted drinking in a shelter near the volleyball courts on North 8th.

Deputy Chad Montean said one of the men, William Foster, 18, of Macclenny, fled on foot as he approached the area about 11:30 pm. He was caught minutes later by Deputy Robert Simpkins on Blair St. east of the park. Mr. Foster had an open bottle of vodka in his pocket.

The other two were identified as Kristopher Legg, 21, of Macclenny and Matthew Russell, 20, of Glen St. Mary.

Deputy Montean noted that a water spigot at the shelter was turned on and had flooded the floor, and a nearby garbage can had been overturned. Also, an empty vodka bottle was lying nearby on a picnic table.

Threatens to set his house afire

A Sanderson man was arrested early on June 5 for allegedly threatening to burn down his house and torch a camper belonging to his brother-in-law nearby after he was caught snorting prescription pills belonging to his wife.

The following day, Terry Dugger, 48, was also charged with violating an earlier probation for aggravated battery.

The suspect’s wife, Sharon Dugger, 40, told Deputy Jacob Satterwhite she awakened about 2 am when she heard noise in the bathroom of the residence on Foxridge Trail, and shortly after went to their camper outside and found her husband and an acquaintance snorting the pills. Both were naked.

It was then he threatened to burn the house with their children inside.

$1500 in rings taken

A number of thefts from residences were reported to the sheriff’s department the past week, including one on Clete Harvey Rd. in the south county during which two rings valued at $1500 were taken.

Trina Harvey told Deputy Clements Leo on June 3 she discovered the rings missing from a safe in her bedroom on May 31, and gave him the name of a female who stayed at her home in early May as a possible suspect.

She claimed the guest during that time saw her open the safe to retrieve medicine.
