Alice Gray, 77, dies November 14

Alice Ceretha Gray, 77, of Macclenny died on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 with family and friends by her side. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, working outdoors, taking trips to Biloxi to gamble, and most of all spending time with her family. After working many years as a correctional officer, she retired to travel and take care of her husband Frank.

Ms. Gray is survived by her son Kenneth Clyde Watts of Gainesville; brothers Fred (Sharon) Wood of Wetumpka, AL and Bobby (Barbara) Wood of Gainesville; son-in-law Bryan Mobley of Macclenny; grandchildren Joel (Beverly) Lauramore of Macclenny, Ceretha Alexander of Atlanta and Denise (Don) Weddle of Sanderson;  and great-grandchildren Dalton, Chase and Jordan. She was preceded in death by her husband Franklin Gray, father Joel Marvin Wood, brother JM Wood, and only daughter Deborah Mobley of Macclenny. Alice was many things: a wife, sister and mother, but most importantly she was Nana to everyone she met, to her own grandchildren and to Ricky, Vance, Dena, Rocky, Landon and many others.

The funeral service was held on Saturday, November 17, in the Forbes Funeral Home  chapel in Macclenny. Interment followed at Macedonia Cemetery, Macclenny.

Funeral Friday for Jimmie Hodges

Jimmie Lee Hodges Sr., 61, of Macclenny died on November 16, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Jacksonville on July 9, 1951 to Loraine Hodges and the late Earl Hodges. Jimmie was a resident of Macclenny the past 15 years and enjoyed camping, being outdoors and fishing. He also enjoyed sports, NASCAR racing and Gator football. He was preceded in death by his son Timothy Hodges and brother Virgil Hodges.

Mr. Hodges is survived by his loving mother of Macclenny; children Anthony L. Hodges of Green Cove Springs, Jimmie Lee Hodges Jr. of Hilliard and Amanda Hodges of Jacksonville; brothers Kenneth and Billy Hodges, both of Macclenny; sisters Sarah Holland and Doris Brown of Macclenny, and Patricia Wester of St. Augustine; grandchildren Joshua, Hannah, Courtney, Chelsey, Oscar, Andrew and Timothy Jr.

he funeral service will be held Friday, November 23, 2012 at 2 pm at V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services chapel with Pastor Mark Cercy officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends  one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Margie Howard, 81, Baldwin native

Margie Howard, 81, of Macclenny died on Friday, November 16, 2012. A native of Baldwin, Ms. Howard was a lifelong resident of the area. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by sons Albert Hunt Jr. and Keith Hunt, both of Macclenny; brother Harvey “Ted” Harris of Macclenny; sister Deloris Hunt of Orlando; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her son Craig Hunt.

A memorial service for Ms. Howard will be held at a later date. Forbes Funeral Home of Macclenny was in charge of arrangements.

Nella Richards, 89, county native

Nella Jeanette Richards, 89, of Jacksonville died on November 13, 2012. She was born in Winter Haven, FL to the late Lloyd and Daisy Harvey and was raised in Baker County. Mrs. Richards was a longtime resident of Jacksonville and loved to work in her yard. She was a devoted mother and well-loved family member.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Jack Edward Richards, Sr. of Jacksonville, brother Virgil Harvey and sisters Hazel Taylor and Helen Juanita Taylor, all of Baker County.

Mrs. Richards is survived by son Jack Edward Richards Jr. (Sylvia) of Atlanta; grandaughters Michelle Donnelly (Jerry), Shannon McMains (Donny) and Jenne Garrett (Travis); eight great-grandchildren; brother Vernon Harvey (Jackie) and sister Margie Davis (Carlton), both of Sanderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held at noon on Saturday, November 17 at Magnolia Cemetery in DeFuniak Springs. The family requests donations to the Tim Tebow Foundation, 2220 CR 210, Suite 108, PMB 317, Jacksonville, FL 32259. Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home in Mandarin was in charge of arrangements.
