Lady Cats jump out to 3-0 start to basketball season

The Lady Wildcat basketball team has swept to a 3-0 start to the season and new head coach Chris Chisholm couldn’t be happier.

“They are playing hard, working hard and coming together as a team,” said Chisholm. He and assistant coaches Kim Gaskins, Karen Ruise and Kylie Cannady have been preaching the fundamentals and it has paid off with some big early season wins.

Freshman Delicia Washington shone offensively in all three games. She threw in 27 points against Bishop Snyder as the Cats opened the season with a 49-46 win. Hailey Bussell added 8 points in the victory on the road November 13.

The Cats eked out a 39-38 district win on November 15 against a stubborn Forrest Rebels squad. Washington again led the way with 18 points. Joshlyn Brown muscled in 7 on the inside and Shaniece Paige and Bussell added 5 each.

The Cats’ only home game of the stretch came on November 16 as BCHS strolled past Stanton Prep 48-36 behind 26 points from Washington. Paige added 11, and Bussell and Candace Clack had 6 points each.

The ladies will travel to Paxon to take on the Golden Eagles on November 27.
