Billy Folsom Sr., professional Santa

Billy Charles Folsom Sr. of Sanderson died Sunday, Sept. 2 at his residence following a long illness. He was a native of Austell, Georgia and lived in Heflin, Alabama before moving to Sanderson six years age. He was employed as a truck driver for many years. He was a Baptist and a professional Santa Claus who loved remote control airplanes, hunting and fishing.

Mr. Folsom was preceded in death by parents Lawrence Marion Folsom and Bertha Beatrice Paine Folsom. He is survived by his wife Dawn “Mary” Folsom of Sanderson; daughters Tammy E. Folsom of Macclenny and Dawn C. Lockhart of Bowden, Ga.; sons Billy C. Folsom Jr., Brian L. Folsom and Timothy L. Folsom, all of Sanderson; brother Warner L. Folsom of Spring, Texas; sisters Joyce E. Spoonemore of Mableton, Ga., Mary Jane Dixon of Warrenville, S.C. and Judy Folsom Sauls of Beech Island, S.C.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Infant Garlen Gray funeral September 6

Infant Garlen Mae Gray died on August 31, 2012 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. She is survived by parents Carlton “Boo” Jr. and Holly Gray; sister Gracie Layla Gray, all of Glen St. Mary; grandparents Carl (Mary) Gray of Glen St. Mary, Marline (Jimmy) Walker of Taylor, Jerry (Charlene) Huffaker of Hazlehurst, Ga., Denise (Clyde) Ice of Jacksonville; uncle Brandon (Nikki) Huffaker of Douglas, Ga.; aunts Carlena (Bucky) Tyson, Kirsten Starling, Ansley Ice; cousins Bailey and Chase Tyson, Marley Huffaker.

The funeral service will be conducted on Thursday Sept. 6,  at 1 pm at Oak Grove Cemetery with Pastor Tommy Richardson officiating. V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Harriet Hicks, dies August 31st

Harriett Hicks, 91, of Macclenny died Friday, August 31, 2012 at Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. She was a native of Nashville, Tennessee and had resided in Port St. Lucie and Jacksonville before moving to Macclenny in 2009. She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, painting and working with art. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by parents Jessie Davis Roberts and Hattie Lee Peery Roberts, husbands Richard Bruce Sinclair Sr. and Earl Wayne Hicks, and her son Col. Timothy A. Sinclair. She is survived by sons Richard B. (Fay) Sinclair of Macclenny and Stephen Wayne (Jeanita) Hicks of Nashville; brother James Roberts of Nashville; grandchildren Sean (Maria) Sinclair, Leslie (Greg) Obenschain, Mandy (Mauricio) Alvarez, Ashley (Chris) Pond, Richard Bruce Sinclair III, Abby Hicks, Katie (Patrick) Hagan, Lindsey (Sergio) Garcia and 11 great-grandchildren.

Vivian Hughes, 95, of Baldwin

Vivian Ida Hughes, 95, of Baldwin died Tuesday Aug. 28, 2012 at her residence following a sudden illness. She was born in Baldwin and there all of her life. She was a homemaker and loved cooking and entertaining friends and family. She was a member of the Baldwin Methodist Women’s Society of the First United Methodist Church of Baldwin. She was preceded in death by parents Ambrose M. and Annie Gardner Coleman and her late husband of 64 years, Burea Homer Hughes.

Mrs. Hughes is survived by daughters Mollie Ann (Clarence) Wells of Lincolnton, N.C. and Ellen (Scott) Gordon of Baldwin, Fla; sister Doris Thompson of Macclenny; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
