Lucille Bennett Crews, 77, of Moniac, Georgia, died on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville following a brief illness. She was born in Taylor to the late Alex Bennett and Ida Rewis Bennett.Mrs. Crews made her home and farm, the “Big Bend Ranch”, in Moniac, with her late husband for over 60 years. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, working at the family farm and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Mrs. Crews was a Baptist and member of Moniac Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Oliver Donald Crews, on July 5th of this year, brother Dorsey Bennett and sister Voncille Hand.
Survivors include her son Marvin Oliver Crews of Tampa; daughter Alice Faye Morris of Moniac; brothers Gerald Fred (Inez) Bennett and Ray (Mary Lee) Bennett, all of Gainesville; grandchildren Oliver Donald Crews II and Jason Michael Morris; great grandchildren Elizabeth Crews and Emily Morris.
The funeral service was conducted on Friday, August 10, at her church at 1 1am with Rev. Tim Colvin officiating. Interment followed at Moniac Cemetery. Guerry Funeral Home of Macclenny was in charge of arrangements.
