David (Dave) F. Kurtz, 82, of Macclenny died peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends on July 12, 2012. He was born on September 5, 1929 in Columbiana, OH to the late John and Cora Kurtz.Mr. Kurtz retired from the US Navy after serving 20 years as a chief meteorologist. He enjoyed restoring antique cars, gardening, woodworking and making walnut furniture. He was past president of the Northeast Florida AACA Car Club and an active member of the United Methodist Men’s Group in Macclenny.
In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by sisters Ruth Mercer and Lula Bauman.
Mr. Kurtz is survived by Ann Kurtz, his wife of 60 years; daughter Brenda (Bob) Bast of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; grandson David W. (Renee) Kurtz; great-grandsons D.J. and Avery; brother John Kurtz.
The family received friends the evening of July 17 at the First United Methodist Church in Macclenny and the funeral service was held at 11 am on July 18 at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Orange Park.
