Richard Takamine of Macclenny

Richard M. “Masa” Takamine, 94, of Macclenny died Sunday, May 6 at his residence. He was a native of Hilo, Hawaii and resided in Jacksonville before moving to Macclenny over 30 years ago. He was educated as a chiropractor and received his degree from the Palmer School of Chiropractic, Davenport, Iowa in 1949. He worked in the warehouse department with Winn-Dixie Food Stores in Jacksonville for many years. He was a loyal member of the First Baptist Church of Macclenny and an Army veteran of WWII.

Survivors include siblings Michael Takamine of Los Angeles, CA, Stanley Takamine, Robert Takamine, Jane Takamine, Joan Takamine and Mae Whang, all of Hawaii; step-grandchildren Connie (John) Kent of High Point, NC, Paula (Randy) Smith of St. Augustine, Kim (Tim) Wineland of Jacksonville, Shawn (Brian) Rigennitter of Rome, GA. and Beverly Boyer of Flat Rock, MI; numerous step-great-grandchildren al­­­so survive.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 am on Saturday, May 12 at his church with Dr. Edsel Bone officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will one hour prior to the service at the church. Guerry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
