Ed Jones, 82, of Macclenny dies

Thomas Edsel “Ed” Jones, 82, of Macclenny died May 11, 2012 of complications following a stroke. He was born Sept. 21, 1929, at Pine Top near Glen St. Mary to Dana Jerome Jones and Maude Fraser Jones. Ed was a 1949 graduate of the former Macclenny High School and earned a business degree from Massey Business College. He retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber after 35 years of service. He was an avid gardener.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents and son Thomas E. Jones Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years Lee Morgan Jones, who faithfully cared for him during his declining health; son Joseph Michael Jones (Monica); daughters Jean Jones Cotchaleovitch (Tommy) and Lorrie Kay Jones;  stepchildren Diane Clark (Rick) and J.J. Davis; brothers Dwight J. Jones and Wensel S. Jones;  sister Carolyn Rose Adkins;  12 grandchildren and his 9 great-grandchildren.

V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.

The funeral service was held on Tuesday May 15 at 3:00 pm at the Christian Fellowship Temple  in Macclenny with pastors David and Tim Thomas officiating. Interment followed at  Manntown Cemetery in Glen St. Mary.
