Monroe Alvin Gray, 65, of Pomona Park, Florida died Thursday, April 12 at Shands at University of Florida Hospital in Gainesville following a brief illness. He was a native of Jacksonville and resided in Baldwin before moving to Pomona Park, 20 years ago. He was a boilermaker in the construction industry for 35 years until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his father Joe Gray.Survivors include wife Vivian L. Gray of Pomona Park: children Felicity Crawford of Jacksonville, Anthony M. (Jennifer) Gray of Macclenny, Joseph (Sandra) Gary of Glen St. Mary, Jeremy Hars and Joshua D. Hars, both of Ocala; mother Edith Davis (John) Young of Lake City: sister Martha Gray of Lake City: brothers Joe Gray II of Providence, FL and Tim (Gwen) Gray of Sanderson: 14 grandchildren.
The funeral service was conducted at 2 pm Monday, April 16 at Cedar Creek Church, Sanderson with Rev. Carl Taylor officiating. Interment followed at Cedar Creek Cemetery, Sanderson. Guerry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
