Evelyn Bennett Brown Ellis, 53, of Macclenny died Friday, March 30 at her residence following a brief illness. She was born in Taylor and resided in Baker County all her life. She was a homemaker and enjoyed fishing, camping and telling jokes. She was a member of Road to Calvary Church in Glen St. Mary.Mrs. Ellis was preceded in death by her parents Lemmie and Lottie Bell Trowell Bennett, son Jamie Ellis and siblings Alice Marie Bennett and L.J. Bennett.
Survivors include daughters Susan (Gerald Davis) Brown of Taylor, Tina (Andrew) Vetter of Glen St. Mary and their father James Richard Brown of Taylor; brothers Bobbie Bennett Sr. and A. J. Bennett, both of Taylor; sisters Dorothy Finley, Beatrice Rewis, Kitty Blanks, all of Taylor, Ruby Lauramore of Orange Park, Mary Turner of Branford, Ida Cordova and Kathy Waldo, both of Glen St. Mary; step-son Jimbo Ellis of Fitzgerald, GA; step-brother George Wilkinson of Macclenny; five grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held at 11 am Friday, April 6 at her church with Rev. Tommy Anderson officiating, assisted by Rev. Cliff Barton Jr. Interment followed at Macedonia Cemetery. Guerry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
