William Singleton Young, 84, of Macclenny died Thursday, January 26 at his residence. He was a native of Baldwin and resided in Portland, Oregon before moving to Macclenny 30 years ago. He was a clerk with Seaboard-Coastline Railroad in Baldwin and then retired with Burlington-Northern Railroad in Portland.
Mr. Young was a member of Middleburg Baptist Church and the Transportation Communications International Union. He was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin S. and Ethel Oliver Young, wife Melba Dee Young and son William Young.Survivors include sisters Mary L. Echternkamp of Macclenny and Helen Elaine Wilson of Jamestown, VA; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service was held at 2 pm Tuesday, January 31, in the Brandy Branch Cemetery in Bryceville with Rev. David Thomas officiating. Guerry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
