Eugene Ford, 95, of Sanderson

Deacon Eugene Ford, 95, of Sanderson died Friday, February 3, 2012 at Ed Fraser Hospital in Macclenny following an extended illness. He was born in Selma, AL to the late Delilah and Robert Ford. Mr. Ford was a member of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ where he served on the deacon board, a member of the evangelist team for the Church of God in Christ, western Florida district and deacon of New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Mack Ruise. He was the gate keeper for the Quitman Cemetery Association for over 15 years.

Survivors include wife Thelma Ford; sons Sylvester (Dorothy) Ford, Levice (Sandra) Daniel, Sammie Lee (Denise) Daniels, Jimmie (Joyce) Daniel, Issac Daniel, Purcel Daniel, Syril Ford, Eugene Ford Jr and Charlie (Jennifer) Denmark; daughters Mercilee (Rev. Dr. Rodney) Brown, Carlene Denmark, Caroline (John Reed) Denmark, Linda (Richard) Mills and Sherrie (Recardo) Mathews; 32 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; mother-in-law Lucile Durham; father-in-law George E. Durham; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, February 11 at his church with Elder Richard Farmer officiating. Interment will follow at Quitman Cemetery in Sanderson. The family will receive friends Friday, February 10 from 6-7 pm at the church. Cooper Funeral Home of Lake City is in charge of arrangements.
