Elaine Knadle, 89, died December 19, 2011.
She was 89 years old and is survived by four children and their spouses, two step-children, 12 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many other extended family members. Though she will be greatly missed in this world, all of her family rejoices and celebrates her transfer to heaven. She will be remembered for her goodness, her laughter, her encouragement, her fun-loving heart, and unbelievable walk of faith. Her love of family and love of God are known to all.
She lost her beloved husband in 1970, a tragedy which God used for good to begin a life-long ministry in evangelism. She traveled to Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Singapore, Indonesia, Albania, India, and Mexico sharing the Gospel of Christ and starting churches in the jungles and small villages of these countries.
Ms. Knadle worked with local orphanages, traveled in the Indian Ocean in dug-out canoes, ministered to head-hunters and cannibals, stayed in a sealed room and wore a gas mask in Israel during the first Gulf War. She was among the first group to bring hope to Albania after the fall of the Iron Curtain.
The funeral service will be at Giddens-Reed Funeral Home in Baldwin at 1 pm on Monday, December 26. Viewing is at 12:30 pm. Following that, a graveside service will be held at the Keystone Heights Cemetery on Hwy 100 at 3:30 pm. A fellowship dinner will follow at Freedom Baptist Church on Hwy 21.
