Robert Lentz Sr., 50, of St. George, dies

Robert Ezra Lentz Sr., 50, of St. George died September 29, 2011. Robert was born to the late Paul Ezra Lentz and Ida Mae Renshaw Lentz in Atlanta on March 3, 1961. He was a Charlton County resident most of his life and attended First Baptist Church of St. George. Robert was an avid NASCAR and Bulldog fan. He enjoyed fishing, cooking out and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include sons Robert Ezra Lentz of Wisconsin, Steven D. Lentz of Indiana, Curtis G. (Chelsey) Lentz of Maryland and Joshua L. Lentz of St. George; brothers Lanier Lentz of St. George and Buddy Johnson of Yulee; sisters Delaine Creppell of Jacksonville, Gayle Petty of Folkston and Glenda Sirmans of Nashville, GA; grandchildren Austin, Aaliya, Alexis Raylan, Rylie and Kodie.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, October 4 at 11:00 am at his church with Pastor Ray McKendree officiating. V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services was in charge of the arrangements.

Raymond Griffis, 82, of Olstee, dies

Raymond “Cowboy” Griffis, 82, died October 2, 2011 after a lengthy illness. Mr. Griffis was a life-long Olustee resident, cowboy and county road department employee. He is preceded in death by daughter Darlene Griffis.

Survivors include wife Wanda Griffis of Olustee; son Tim Griffis of Lulu; step-son Robert (Thelma) Hogan of Lake City; step-daughters Robin Bailey of High Springs and Karen Griffis of Jacksonville; brother Willie (Vonnie) Griffis of Sanderson, sisters Betty (Bob) Howard and Louise (Clinton) Westberry of Sanderson and Myrtle Johnson of Valdosta; 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The funeral service will be held Thursday October 6 at Watertown Congregational Methodist Church in Lake City. Visitation will be at 1 pm and services will follow at 2 pm. Burial will be at the Olustee Cemetery.

John Griffis, 54, dies September 28

John Edward Griffis, 54, of Starke died September 28, 2011.

He was born in Starke to Earl Griffis and Grace Thigpen Griffis on August 31, 1957. He was a lifelong resident of Starke and employed at Buford Tree Service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was predeceased by daughter Angel Gail Griffis.

Survivors include parents Earl and Grace Griffis; daughter Kim (Charles) Ellis of Lake City; sisters Margaret Nemeth, Patty (Eddie) Akeridge, Earline (Doug) Eunice and Irene (Phil) Manassa; granddaughter Layne Albritton and soon to be delivered granddaughter Brystal Ellis.

The funeral service was held on October 3, 2011 at 3:00 pm at V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services Chapel in Macclenny with Pastor Stanley Ellis officiating. Interment followed at Macedonia Cemetery in Macclenny. V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.
